The end of the War
The war was ended by the signing of the surrender of Robert E. Lee's Confederate troops to the Union. The civil war ended up lasting for four years with many battles. This war resulted in bringing the Confederate states back with the United States of America to create one country together. The time period after the civil war was named, Reconstruction, a time marked by turmoil, violence and a lot of conflict. The biggest result was the end to slavery. The 13th amendment stating the abolishment of slavery and was in support of Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation speech. Abolishing slavery meant changing a lot of the Constitution, like the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments which consisted of equal rights and voting rights for all citizens no matter race.
